Minimum requirements
- Familiarity with IP networks (architecture and
protocols) , hands-on knowledge of Layer2-Layer7 equipments, overlay networks technologies and XML
- Knowledge of IP routing algorithms and implementations
- Knowledge of resources optimization algorithms/ mechanisms
- Knowledge of software platform tests methodology (stand alone tests, end-to-end integration tests, etc)
- Good communication and teamwork skills within a dynamic environment
Knowledge of the telecommunications sector is essential, as the integration of innovative technologies and the marketing can rapidly change in emerging telecommunications solutions. This position requires strong win-win relationships with technical experts in Europe, the Universities and development engineers from the North America manufacturers.
Responsibilities
- Networks architectures services requirements definition for overlay/semantic network and proof of concept (20%)
- Research and anticipation on overlay/semantic network architectures including the control plane, its performances and its scalability (60%)
- Internal/ external communications (20%)
Qualifications
- PhD or MS , PhD preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in telecommunications sector (R&D, university research,etc)
- Strong desire to understand the theory underlying the topic studied, and shares this understanding
- Ability to communicate R&D results to clients, partners and colleagues is critical
- Self-starter who is highly organized, learns quickly, and is a team player.
Technical skills
- Resources optimization algorithms in distributed environment
- XML framework and IP routing protocols
- Concept and functional architecture of IP network
- Hands-on experience on network equipment setup and test
- Due to the R&D context, experience in writing technical reports and analysis
- Knowledge of the following areas (protocols, architectures, development):
- Routing protocols (IPv4/6, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, OSPF, P2P middleware, etc)
- Multicast, matching algorithms in content network in publish- subscribe paradigm
