Scope:
The CSG group within Level 3 is the interface between the Sales and Product teams. Its goal is to make Level 3 easy to do business with both internally and externally, react to unique customer requirements and reduce the cycle time from quote to billing.
The CSG group has been chartered to provide the SBUs and senior management team with actionable information across the Level 3 sales funnel, market and competitive environments. This information will be used to drive key initiatives, policies and strategies. The goal of the CSG market intelligence program will be to provide a uniform view across our products on a timely and consistent basis. This request is initially for one intern but it is expected that the program will grow based on success. We would ideally partner with a local professor(s) or program to provide a feeder for high-energy talented individuals and serve as a recruiting tool for Level 3.
Duties:
The intern will initially work with all areas of Level 3 including CSG, product, sales, marketing, business operations, finance and IT groups to design and create the platform for data collection and reporting. Based on initial reviews and feedback, the intern will work to automate data collection and continuously improve the cycle time and quality of reports. The work product will be a critical tool for senior management.
Success Criteria:
The output of the program will be the automated analysis and organization of collected data into the consistent review of pricing and market intelligence information.
Required Skill Set:
Candidates should be familiar with how enterprises collect data, data integrity and reporting. They should be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. Ideally, they would have some telecom experience and be proficient with Access. Areas of study would be Telecom, Business or MIS. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast paced environment with all levels of staff/management, be able to express their ideas and meet deadlines on a consistent basis.
Hours:
Following the initial development of the program, it is expected that hours would become consistent and fairly flexible based on meeting key deliverables. Hours should not exceed 20 per week while in school; hours will increase during the summer months. |

Advanced Unix skills to monitor and utilize log files to troubleshoot issues, investigate hardware issues, manipulate and reconfigure log files. Perform maintenance of file systems as required. Unix scripting to assist in evaluating performance, log files, and automation agents. Familiar in the use of monitoring equipment to include but not limited to INET, Riversoft, LEGOS, SNIPS, Big Brother, Bigger Smarter Brother, SONUS EMS, Switch Admin, EMS, Zome, and Unix monitoring scripts.
